Remember when I told you all how much I hated books, but obviously I was only kidding? But I still shared ideas to tear apart one-time books to make a crafts out of them, and it was fun and we all had a good laugh and stuff? Well I accept another book page project for you now, and I was inspired past my book page crafts post.
I love words a whole lot, I love books a whole lot, and I call back book pages look really amazing in fine art and craft, they've virtually go a neutral. What practice yous think? Are y'all a book folio arts and crafts fan?
I spied some absurd book flowers and tried my hand at them, and then decided I needed to make a billionty thousand of them to hot glue onto an orb for hanging purposes. I'm glad I have a teenager who likes to steal these kinds of things from me when I'1000 finished, because while I similar making crafty things from time to time, I don't want them all over my business firm, ya dig?
Permit'due south see how we make this beautiful flowery hangy orb of mystery.
Materials:
- Book pages, and loads of 'em
- A bowl to trace around to cut circles from the pages
- Pair of scissors
- Patience
- Hot glue gun
- Small white lantern
I got a small one, because I couldn't imagine myself having the patience to cover a larger lantern with these flowers, but I'll bet it would look gorgeous to take a glowy bloom lamp…. ooh I may have to get my family making flowers and do this.
Book Page Flowers
Trace effectually your basin- on a stack of book pages at a time.
Cut out the circle with your scissors.
Cut a screw from the circle, every bit shown.
Start rolling from the outer pointy signal in- as you do more of them yous will go into the groove of rolling, and you will practise it more quickly. This function is fun to me- sort of relaxing and therapeutic. You can listen to a podcast or watch the Ellen show while you're rolling. Oh wait- y'all probably already have all sorts of experience rolling illicit things up in newspaper, you naughty Nellie.
When yous get to the circular end, you slightly bend that to be the base of the flower. Squeeze a glob of hot glue onto the middle of the round area and hold the coiled flowers onto it for a second to adhere. If your flower is coiled too tightly, and you want it looser, let it spring open a chip earlier you lot glue information technology down.
Some other fun parts to this practice are finding interesting bits on the pages you are cut out (I'm using an onetime encyclopedia), and playing with the hot glue strands. Likewise, burning your fingers is quite enjoyable. BUT I DIGRESS.
After you've made so many flowers yous can't fifty-fifty believe yourself, make some more than. Then showtime gluing them around your lantern.
What the hell? Looking at this at present, I wish I had squished the flowers together a bit more to fill in some of those gaps. Do that if y'all brand this. Yeah. But not besides squished. They'll experience uncomfortable.
